Our desire, or perhaps our faith in the possibility of becoming saints, ebbs and flows. Sometimes it seems like sanctity is truly within our reach, and we're ready to practically canonize ourselves! I remember attending a retreat as a sophomore in high school, and on the way home, on a complete "retreat high," thinking that if I died then, surely I'd be an immediate saint!
At other times, our belief in Heaven or the possibility of becoming a saint seems impossible. I have also experienced this. It took much perseverance in faith and prayer to be convicted once again that sanctity was in fact what God wanted for me, and that it was possible.
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints Day. Whether you find yourself in the "ebb" or the "flow," rest deeply in the conviction that:
1. It is possible to become a saint.
2. God wants you to become a saint.
God is faithful. Therefore, He will do it.
May our Blessed Mother, your guardian angel and all your holy patrons watch over you and protect you today and always.
