What is it like to live from a place of gratitude? I think it is a joyful way to live. I'm not always there and can tell when I'm not being grateful. When we find ourselves sad, a good question to ask ourselves might be: What gift is God giving right now (that I'm not noticing)?
One gift from today: Hearing the jesting going on between junior high students. We have a joyful bunch, and it lifted my heart to hear them speak from a place of gratitude, as well as simply joking with each other lightheartedly.
"The game last night was really close! We only lost by 4 points this time! It was really fun!" -a 7th grader
"There must have been something wrong with the basketball rim--I couldn't make the shots." "Yeah, but did you actually hit the rim?" -conversation between several 8th graders
Holy Spirit, open our eyes to the gifts you have to offer us at each moment!
