Perhaps the traditional Christmas carol, "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" could be renamed after today. We started a new tradition of seventh graders coming to the classrooms to sing a carol and bring Christmas cheer on the feast of St. Nicholas. Not only that, but one of their members dressed up as St. Nicholas himself. He was voted into this role, and did a fabulous job of bringing Advent greetings to the various classes. The seventh grade then backed him up by singing a verse of "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" in Latin. After singing it as many times as they did today, they might have it memorized!
To see the joy on the faces of the students, faculty and staff these students visited was priceless. What heroic act of charity is God calling me to this Advent? Whether it's a word, an action or simply a joyful heart, we can be a gift to others.
