Many of you likely know our children were invited by Suzanne Pillen to sing at the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the capitol last weekend. Here are a couple of news links about the event!
I have permission to share the internal emails below, that are beautiful and formative!
The first one from Mrs. Schilmoeller:
Dear Sr. Mary Michael & All,
I just wanted you to know that the students did an outstanding job representing our school at the Capitol and governor's mansion this weekend.
The 3rd and 4th graders were extremely well behaved and followed directions perfectly - and sang beautifully. There was a pro-Palestine protestor there who was VERY disruptive and obnoxious, especially while Governor Pillen was speaking and Fr. Clark praying. I know a few students were disturbed by her behavior, but I believe Cindy and Shelly did a little debriefing on the bus ride home.
I was VERY pleased with Junior High Choir at the after party caroling. They were the perfect balance of fun and professional, also followed directions, sang well, and were enjoying themselves appropriately. I could not have asked for anything more! They continued the good behavior at our pizza party. Well done to all!
Thanks for all the work you do to reinforce good choices. It is paying off!

After watching the second clip above I sent a note to Terri:

Great comments on TV! You didn’t say “like” even once! Joy, the charism of children - Well done!
Now for the best part, Terri’s response: (permission also acquired from her dad for reprinting).
Ha, thank you! When we were growing up my dad HAAAAAAAATED when we said “like.” To our embarrassment he would correct our friends as well, and make a buzzer sound interrupting a story multiple times when we said it. I guess this means his methods were effective.
My response: Your dad is a good man! He reminds me of a Sister with whom I was working. We were giving talks at a retreat. After my talk, she said, “Great content…etc…Did you know you said, ‘OK’ 38 times?”
“Shoot, no, I did not.” Duly noted.
Parents and really good friends help us with self-knowledge and formation. May the Good Lord help you to do the same for your family!
Sister Mary Michael, C.K.
