Kindness and consideration for others shines brightly in a cancel culture with sound bites that…well, let’s just say...that are not so nice.
Two instances I’d like to shine the light on. This week one of the shy girls in junior high had a birthday. A few of the fellows decided it would be good to sing Happy Birthday to her in the cafeteria. They did so and watched her smile and then squirm. Good hearted humor is such a blessing.
The little kids were outside at the playground, enjoying the equipment. A little one had attempted repeatedly to get on the tire swing, but she couldn’t get up there. A classmate saw the struggle and got down on all fours and invited her to step on his back. SUCCESS! From my view getting on the swing was the less significant part. The virtue displayed, preceded by noticing the challenge of another: That is a WIN. How beautiful to see kindness that flows from the little ones without regard to self. "Unless you become like a little child you shall not enter the Kingdom.” (Mt 18:2-4)
God bless us all! This has been one of the smoothest school startups I’ve ever seen…well at least after the gas leak. We are still thanking the Good Lord for his providence in keeping us all safe there. May He Who is faithful continue to help us be grateful!
