"You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness. You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness. You breathed your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for you. I have tasted you, now I hunger and thirst for more. You touched me, and I burned for your peace." Some of St. Augustine's most famous words include this excerpt from Book 10 of his Confessions. At St. Teresa School, we are trying to aid in this deliverance from the deafness and blindness of the world and open our ears and eyes to the wonder of God.
Where have I seen this in our classrooms?
~Attentiveness to a piece of music and answering questions about the various instruments being played or the message being sung
~Attention to detail, as students render a piece of artwork or an item in nature, seeking to grow in accuracy and perceive things as they really are
~Identifying parts of speech
~Discovering patterns in math class
~Our presence at daily Mass and monthly benediction aid in the other aspects of this desire for God. His fragrance in the incense...tasting Him in the Eucharist...experiencing His touch in prayer.
Holy Spirit, open our eyes, ears and hearts to Your Presence.
