There has been so much new life here at St. Teresa parish: new life hidden in the womb, new babies being born, new students arriving.
We also all know those who have died: friends, spouses, parents, grandparents, children, neighbors, other relatives. The month of November is particularly devoted to prayer for the poor souls in purgatory. Father Kipper mentioned in his homily today about the close connection we have with both the Church Triumphant and Church Suffering. Neither of them is far at all. In fact, even though we don't experience their presence through our senses anymore, I would venture to say that they are closer than ever before. And they are alive.
St. Teresa, our patron, was firmly convicted of this truth. She, who in the last months before her death, experienced severe physical and spiritual suffering, including temptations against faith, confidently proclaimed, "I am not dying. I am entering into life." Let us offer extra prayers for the poor souls this month--both those of loved ones we know, and those that are only known in the Heart of God.
To hear the “Kyrie” from Charles Gounod’s Mass of St. Cecilia that our 5th-8th grade sang, and our orchestra accompanied today, scroll down towards the end of the newsletter. May it be a prayer, pleading for mercy for those in most need.
