The Reason for Our Hope
Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope.
What would you say if someone asked us about the reason for your hope? I would have to say that one of the reasons I have hope is our Catholic school. We are so blessed to be able to give our children a Catholic education.
On Tuesday, the "cold day," the doorbell rang about 1:21 p.m. At the door were a couple of our students, handing over a spiritual bouquet that the students, faculty and staff had collected for me for the feast of St. Agnes. The little "flowers in snow" were filled with promises of prayers! Being formed spiritually, to grow in friendship with Jesus, to think of others and pray for them, are some of the ways our students benefit from this education.
Our students have many opportunities to grow in other ways as well: academically, physically, musically, artistically, dramatically, morally, relationally, organizationally, imaginatively...the list could go on!
We invite you to join us for our various Catholic Schools Week activities--everything from the Open House on Sunday after the 10 a.m. Mass, all the way to the longstanding tradition of the 8th grade v. teachers/staff volleyball game on Friday! (The teachers are determined to win this year!)
May St. Agnes, your guardian angels and all of your holy patrons intercede for you!

The Nebraska Legislature is meeting now, introducing all kinds of bills to try to improve the lives of Nebraskans. We are looking forward to seeing several bills to empower parents with access to the education that works best for their child. We will keep you updated as the session progresses.

Topic: Online Safety

Where: 4600 Valley Road--Vrbka Classrooms, 1st floor
Overview: 1 in 5 children experience solicitation online--the dangers of technology are undeniable. Many caregivers feel overwhelmed when it comes to setting boundaries around technology with their child, and they don't know where to start. Aubrey Yost, a Training and Outreach Specialist with BraveBe Child Advocacy Center, will provide tips for navigating the digital age with children and teens.
Topics include: risks involved with technology, tools to assist youth and adults navigate technology together, how to engage youth in discussions regarding online safety

Safe Environment Training--9 days left!
All volunteers are required to complete the CMG Connect safe environment training renewal by January 31, 2025. If you are wanting to volunteer at the church or school anytime during 2025, this training must be completed by the end of January. Those who are current on background checks are NOT required to complete a new background check in January of 2025.

Pius X 8th grade Open House
Pius X High School will host its annual open house for eighth-grade students and their parents/guardian at 7pm on Monday, Feb. 3. All students in a Catholic school, another private school, public school, or home school are invited. Pius X Thunderettes Kiddie Camp
Join us for PXDT Kiddie Camp on February 8, 2025! This exciting camp, open to grades PreK-5th, will be held at Pius X High School (6000 A Street, Lincoln, NE). The day kicks off at 9 a.m. and includes dance routines, games, and a performance for parents at noon. Dancers are welcome to come back for a performance at the Pius X Boys Varsity Basketball Game at 4:30 p.m. Registration is $35 for one camper, $25 for a second, and $15 for additional campers.
