Earlier this week three of us attacked a closet, the contents of which had not seen the light of day for many years. We had the right team. Sister Mary Agnes took the costume and all clothing related items. Ben took the custodial materials and remnants. I sorted and took the miscellaneous things. We had the right team. Ninety minutes later, there was room where there had not been room, we added the items that were the impetus for beginning the project, and all was well. The only thing left to do is to have a little party in that room. Sister Anne Joelle is famous for having a little party when you do things like get a new copier or rearrange a common space. It is good to celebrate such things.
Today we celebrated the Feast of the Dedication of our Church. Every year on November 19 we celebrate the goodness of our place of worship. We here at St. Teresa Church are so blessed to have such a place of grace. It is right and good that our school, a branch of the Church and parish join in thanksgiving for God’s gifts.
In his homily Father mentioned this is the 99th anniversary of our parish! Do you know what that means next year?! We need the right team to prepare the school portion of the Jubilee Celebration. I’ll be glad to be on the team, but we need help. In order to do this well we need team members. Is the Lord poking you with his bony finger? If we get a good number of people with the right skill sets, this will be a great celebration. Not overwhelming for anyone, but all of us working together. This is no small anniversary; we must celebrate 100 years. If you’d consider being on the committee, let me or anyone in the office know of your willingness. We are open to members and ideas!
In the meantime, our CK (School Sisters of Christ the King) community is celebrating 50 years this coming year. This weekend is the Feast of Christ the King. Let us all pray for an outpouring of grace and open hearts to receive it well. The Feast is for all the Church, and we find particular joy and grace in it as it matches our community charism so well.
Sister Mary Michael, C.K.
