We finally have the new climbers installed in the back. The kids were all over them! One child said to me, “We are like bees on a hive.”
I continued the conversation, “Did you try it?”
He said, “A little bit, it is not as easy as it looks.”
I agreed and said, “I tried it yesterday.”
He added, “How did that end?”
Pretty much all I did was laugh and say, “Just fine.”
There are two pictures below, one has so many kids on it you can’t see the climber, so the second picture shows the pair, there are two of them parallel to each other. They are far enough apart so you can’t go from one to the other.
Why add climbers? The swing that took up the same amount of room had an occupancy rating of one. This can handle a couple tons of children. More importantly though, climbers are good for strength development. A little child has little resistance. They fly all over up, down and all around! As strength increases so does size and resistance. So physiologically, climbers are good for little ones and big kids too. It is a structure that grows with the child and is a lot of fun at the same time. As we watched the children on the climbers, they came and played for quite some time. I was glad to see they did not find it to be a piece that was fun for a quick minute then were done. As Sister Mary Agnes said, “Climbers are perennial.” They always have been popular and always will be. They appeal to the human spirit. We have been planning this piece for about a year. The supply chain and the installer schedule took a while to come together. Thank you, Lord, for the new structure, and for SFA for funding that enables us to grow our playground. Walk the Little Way funds constantly are at work.
