Games take strategy. So does life. Our students were exercising various logic and strategy skills as they played their games on Tuesday for the Buddy Activity. Of course, there were some games that didn't take much strategy, too.
Something that helps in games of strategy, is considering the moves of your opponent. Which strategy are they using? What might be their next move? How will you respond in each situation?
Do you ever feel like your spiritual opponent is getting the better of you? It would be good to discover what strategy he is using and determine a counterattack or at least a defense in that spot. The book, "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis presents a number of scenarios and ways that the enemy tries to work in our lives. At one point in Chapter 14, Screwtape (one of the devils), spitefully writes, "He (referring to God)
really loves the hairless bipeds He has created." It's true. And the devil really hates us! He'll do anything to get us to despise ourselves, remain in sin without repentance, or place all kinds of obstacles and distractions in our way.
The good news is that God is all-loving, all-powerful, omniscient, omnipresent and is advocating for us. He gives us Himself, as well as all kinds of aids, such as the sacraments and good angels and saints to help us on our way.
"Your opponent, the devil, is prowling like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, solid in your faith." -1 Peter 5:8
