The Power of a Blessing
One of our families has a strong tradition of blessing their children. Each morning when they get out of the car, mom traces the sign of the cross on their foreheads and says, “God bless you.” Usually she gets a quick hug and off they come into school. It has been going on for years. One of the children is taller than mom now, and the blessings continue.
You as parents have particular grace and authority over your families given by our Creator Himself. I’m sure many more of you bless your child before bed. Our teachers share that authority, and they, too, have particular graces for the classroom. Some of them bless the children at the end of the day as they leave.
It is good to have reminders of graces available to us. Is there a better day than today to start blessing your children?
