Imitation
Did your mom ever tell you, "Imitation is the best form of flattery?" I now find myself using that same phrase with students when they are annoyed by another student copying them in some way. (Distinguishing point: The kind of imitation I'm talking about is not copying something so as to avoid doing the work oneself. That form is not acceptable--plagiarism, inappropriate use of AI, etc.)
Educationally, imitation is very valuable. We can look at something that is true, good or beautiful, of excellent quality, and try to imitate it. As we do this, the excellence becomes a part of us. Eventually we grow in the ability to use the skill we've learned with greater freedom and creativity.
Some ways we do this in the classroom include imitating things such as quality handwriting, a beautiful piece of artwork, a piece of music, a style of writing, a particular form in physical education...the list could go on and on.
We can even do this spiritually! Jesus said, "Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart." As we spend time with Jesus in prayer and Scripture, we can learn from Him and imitate Him. Jesus, help us to imitate You in the way You lived and gave Your life for us.

Pictures Coming Home Today!
The picture day proofs from Jayhawk Jumpstart are coming home today. Orders are due by Friday, September 18th. If you were not present for Jayhawk Jumpstart or would like to retake a picture, picture retake day will be Monday, September 28th.
Our Lady of Fatima Traveling Statue
St. Teresa School provides two Traveling Mary Statues to our school families. Each Wednesday, on a rotating basis, two school families are chosen to receive a Statue of Our Lady of Fatima to bring home for the week.The primary purpose of the Pilgrim Virgin Mary Statue home family visitation is to aid our school families in responding to the requests made by the Blessed Mary during her apparitions at Fatima. The essence of her requests is threefold: Return to God, Make reparation for sins; and Pray the Rosary for Peace.
As your schedule allows, please pray a family Rosary for peace during the week of her visit (daily, if possible). Please return the statue to school the following Wednesday. You are welcome to keep the envelope of materials that you receive with the Statue. Contact Jill Zimmer in the office with any questions!
